Explaining Various Types Of Plastic Bags In This Post

Choosing the correct plastic shopping bag might be difficult given the variety of options available. This is because plastic bags are created from a variety of materials. Every material has its own particular advantages.

There are various types of plastic bags available worldwide; however, by being familiar with each one, you may greatly reduce your options and select the best bag for your purposes.

High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE)

This is probably the most widely used polymer in the world, and it has a number of properties that make it a good material for making plastic bags. It’s thin, translucent, water- and temperature-resistant, and has high tensile strength.

Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE)

Utility bags, food bags, bread bags, and bags with intermediate strength and stretch qualities are all examples of this type of plastic. Though LDPE bags are not as robust as HDPE bags, they may be used to store bulk commodities such as groceries and meat.

  • Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE)

The primary difference between LDPE and LLDPE plastic bags is the latter’s narrower gauge. However, the most excellent thing about this plastic is that there is no change in strength. It allows customers to save money without sacrificing quality.

  • Medium Density Polyethylene (MDPE)

MDPE is a medium-density polyethylene that is clearer than HDPE but not as transparent as low-density polyethylene. MDPE bags are not known for their strength or ability to stretch. Hence they are not recommended for hauling or storing bulk materials.

  • Polypropylene (PP)

These bags are more transparent than others, giving consumers more vision. Because of their high melting point, PP bags are ideal for heat sealing and, like other plastic bag choices, are USDA and FDA approved for food handling.
