Why is a Hot Tub Bath so Healthy for the Body and Mind?

On average, the human body is made up of 67 percent water. It is therefore not surprising that water also plays a crucial role in terms of our health. In medicine, water has long been known as a natural remedy.

Sanus Per Aquam – Health Through Water:

The Romans already built magnificent baths in which fresh spring or thermal water was supposed to strengthen body and soul. This is where the Latin proverb “Sanus per aquam” comes from, which means something like “health through water”. The well-known term “spa” is the abbreviation of this and is nowadays also used as a synonym for hot tubs, jacuzzi, and whirlpools. This is because we envision a spa as a place that embodies the fundamental principles of wellness: relaxation of the body and mind.

The Effect of the Hot Tub on the Body:

Sports physicians agree that a bath in the hot tubs is not only for relaxation but also for health. The effect of hot tubs on health is based on four properties:

  • The temperature of the water
  • Boost
  • Water pressure
  • Frictional resistance created by the massage jets in the hot tubs
  • A dip in the hot tubs for better blood circulation

The warmth of the water in the hot tub dilates the blood vessels and regulates blood pressure. It also improves blood flow to the internal organs. In general, the blood is better distributed in the body. You know it when you stand for a long time. Then the blood rushes into your legs and they suddenly feel heavier. That doesn’t happen in the hot tub. The water presses evenly on the body from the outside. The water pressure prevents sagging. At the same time, the buoyancy relieves the joints and ensures pleasant relaxation.
